About Edward McKenzie

Edward P. McKenzie is the Owner and Manager of the commercial real estate development and management business, EMCO Management, LLC located in St. Thomas,Virgin Islands, as well as EMCO Management USA, LLC, located in Miami, Florida.  EMCO has been in operation since 2001, having grown to include small shopping centers, industrial property, a commercial parking lot, and self-storage facilities.

Edward also served as the Managing Director of Solar Systems, LLC, from 2009-2014. Solar Systems was a manufacturer/wholesaler of solar thermal water heaters and an integrator of solar photovoltaic systems. Under his leadership and guidance, Solar Systems grew to be the largest solar energy business in the Eastern Caribbean before he sold it in 2014.

Prior to his work as a business owner, Edward P. McKenzie was an attorney with a practice concentrated in commercial real estate law. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 1982, Ed became an associate with Rogers & Wells for 2 years before stepping into the role of Assistant Vice President at Citicorp Investment Bank. Edward left there to become a Vice President at Thomas-McKinnon Securities and later Executive Vice President and General Counsel at The Realvest Group. Edward then joined Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. as Partner and Chairman of Real Estate and Corporate Department, focusing on commercial real estate, environmental, energy, and corporate transactions. Ed later became a Partner at Graham, Curtin & Sheridan, where  was a member of  the corporate transactional department.

Edward P. McKenzie received his undergraduate degree from American University (graduating cum laude) with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration. He then went on to study on a Rotary Fellowship at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain with a focus on Political Science.

Ed’s studies in political science and experience in international business have fostered interest and passion in leadership culture and politics. Knowing full well the importance of strong leadership in the world of business entrepreneurship, Edward McKenzie isn’t afraid to talk about the importance of leadership across all industries — even lending his expertise to those who inquire of it.
